An Invitation to The Life of Brian

It’s pretty obvious why producers created the original This Is Your Life program. Someone attending a wake or memorial wondered why all the good tales are told a tad too late for the honoree.

Hmm, posed the producer. ‘Why not share stories when he’s a man in full, closer to halftime than full-time?’

That’s why the Washington State legends of Soccer believe Feb. 28 is precisely the right time to present, Brian Schmetzer: This Is Your Life.

There, on the eve of his first full season in charge of Sounders FC – and as MLS Cup holder – Schmetzer’s past will be brought forward to the present by a bunch of friends, family, teammates, coaches and peers. All of this will prompt some undoubtedly juicy accounts. And you’re invited to listen in.

Since there’s supposed to be a bit of mystery to Schmetz, we cannot divulge the identities of the guests. Suffice to say, however, many have worn Seattle colors with him over the years, from Lake City Hawks to Sounders to FC Seattle to Tacoma Stars and back to two iterations of the Sounders once more.

Puget Sound is home to a soccer community that’s revered across America, and The Legends are intentional about preserving our history, sharing it, celebrating it and making still more history.

About Washington State Legends of Soccer

Washington State Legends of Soccer is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 with the goal of providing a forum where the works and accomplishments of the game and its people from all levels and associations can be preserved, shared and celebrated, and where new generations can be engaged, educated and enthused about what has made this such a thriving soccer community. In so doing, our soccer community not only grows in numbers, but grows closer and makes still more history. Together, we’re better.
